DESIGN

Designing our AI camera system around CNC-machined, aerospace-grade aluminium introduces a unique balance of performance, durability and manufacturability challenges. The aluminium housing must act as both a structural enclosure and an efficient heat sink, dissipating thermal loads from onboard processors and sensors without compromising internal component stability. Achieving this requires precise wall thickness control, internal fin geometries, and careful consideration of thermal pathways during the CNC process. At the same time, maintaining an IP67 rating demands highly accurate gasket interfaces, tight tolerances, and consistent surface finishes to ensure reliable sealing against water and dust ingress. The integration of elastomeric gaskets with rigid aluminium surfaces also introduces challenges around compression set, long-term sealing performance, and assembly repeatability. Balancing these factors—thermal management, environmental protection, and production efficiency—drives a highly iterative design and engineering approach.
